The new building, which develops around a central courtyard, offers guests access to outdoor spaces on every level: the internal garden on the ground floor, the terrace on the first floor and the two accessible terraces on the second floor. The basement, built as an extension, houses the administrative offices and is connected to the main entrance via a new stairwell and lift block. As regards the renovation of the existing building, it involved the demolition of the fourth floor and the adaptation of the systems and internal finishes. The vertical connections have remained unchanged and each floor retains a direct exit to the outside.
The attic rooms house the AHUs and plant equipment, while chillers for cold production have been installed on the technological terrace. The external areas have been arranged with an increase in permeable areas, the creation of driveway paving and the installation of lawn-saving gratings for the car parks, while rainwater is collected and conveyed to the existing sewer system via a lamination tank. The new building, with its exposed brick-like finish and large glass windows, integrates harmoniously with the existing building. The gable roof and the two flat-roofed side buildings contribute to creating an image of serenity and welcome. The structure of the new extension was built with prefabricated elements to minimize inconvenience for guests during the works.
